The 17-year-old Suzu lives in a rural town with her father and attends a high school there. After losing her mother at a very young age, Suzu discovers one day that there is a vast online world called “U”, which she dives into as her avatar, Belle, after being wounded by the loss of her mother. A mysterious, dragon-like figure suddenly appears in front of Belle, and before long, all of U’s eyes are focused on Belle, as she stares intently at her.
